There are many different types of ovens available, these include:
- Conventional Ovens – conventional ovens use heating elements to cook food. Can be gas or electric.
- Convection or Fan Ovens – convection or fan ovens have a fan that circulates hot air, leading to more even cooking and faster cooking times.
- Combination Ovens – combination ovens have features of conventional, convection, and microwave ovens together in one unit.
- Conventional Oven – a conventional oven heats up using top and bottom elements without any fan. Heat distribution can be uneven.
- Fan or Convection Oven - a fan oven includes a fan that circulates hot air, promoting even cooking and faster results.
How you clean your oven depends on the type of oven that you have.
- Self-Cleaning Ovens: Use high heat to burn off food residue, leaving ash that can be wiped away.
- Manual Cleaning: Requires scrubbing with an oven cleaner or baking soda and vinegar mixture.
- Steam Cleaning: Some ovens have a steam clean option that softens food residue for easier removal.
Whilst you may have never had an issue with your oven before, leaving it on overnight or when you’re not at home is not recommended. If anything should happen, your home insurance may be invalidated if you have left your oven/cooker on overnight or while you’re not home.
